The Devil's Work

From reading other blogs, I know that sooner or later I'm going to be forced to switch over to the new version of blogger. From reading other blogs, I get the impression that this is not a good thing.

Considering that I'm not even sure how I started this blog in the first place, and I still can't work out how to do fancy things in comments*, please can those of you who have already gone to the dark side give me some advice?

What is there I can do to minimise the pain and not lose half my blog?

*I actually found out on Friday that I've been given a job in IT. I'm now working out which job I'm going to apply for once I've been rumbled.

I didn't find the switchover that painful, although I'd been dreading it. The only thing that really went wrong was that previous comments that had been posted by Beta - sorry - All Noo Blogger users all came up as anonymous. Don't know how I could have fixed that.

Still, I'd cut and paste your links and statcounter from the template because a few people seem to have lost those, and it's easier to press ctrl V to restore things rather than type them all out again.

In all, I'm just glad I waited until Blogger had ironed things out a bit because the people who were the first to go over seem to have been the ones that had the most problems.

Now I know why my stats have fallen through the floor. I thought for a moment people had suddenly realised I'm boring.

Oh.

I don't want to change either, but I'm geting sick of getting those grey pop-up boxes telling me I'm going to be directed to a secure connection. Or somesuch bollocks.

I don't understand computers at all, and like you Kellycat, I do wonder how I ever managed to set it all up.

New Blogger is great and really not very hard. Perhaps I should run a one-day workshop for you all?

The new version is much more stable. When I replaced my website with a new design recently, I wiped the server and reloaded all the stuff I was keeping. I tried old blogger about five times and it kept timing out. I moved to the new version and it worked first time, and it updates reliably now too. Since upgrading I haven't seen any error messages. Upgrading is a good thing. But like they say, back up your template customisations (just go into edit template, copy and paste them into a wordpad document and save as a txt file).

I love the blog that you have. I was wondering if you would link my blog to yours and in return I would do the same for your blog. If you want to, my site name is American Legends and the URL is:

www.americanlegends.info

If you want to do this just go to my blog and in one of the comments just write your blog name and the URL and I will add it to my site.

Thanks,
David
